Final Project

Insomnia     For many, sleep is routine. It is a part of a daily ritual. You wake up feeling refreshed with the energy necessary to face the world. When the day is done, you return to bed to recharge. For me, sleep is precious. I wake up with just enough energy to shuffle through the day in a zombie-like state, yet am unable to fall asleep at night. I have spent countless nights feeling restless, watching and waiting until the sun rises.     The goal of this series is to give a glimpse into life with insomnia and the mental and physical effects that accompany it. Throughout the night, I have what seems like an infinite amount of time to explore and observe things I may not otherwise notice. These photographs were taken at night when the restlessness is at its worst as well as the following morning. I focused on artificial light in nighttime landscapes to provide a sense of uneasiness. I also utilized long exposure to portray movement and restlessness. I shot in both a bedroom a
